Americana

This is actually my very first quilt that I pieced!  I went to lunch one day with some old high school friends and they talked me into trying to make a quilt (thanks, Laura and Richelle)!!  After a lot of arm twisting, they took me to a fabric store and I bought a pattern and fabric and this is what I came up with!  This quilt sat for a long time (I actually pieced it in September 2010) because I was too afraid to try binding it, but I finally got my courage up and got 'er done!  I've got lots to learn, but I think I'm really gonna like this quilting thing!  :o)

    1. This was definitely a great pattern to use for my first quilt! Unfortunately, as you'll see in other quilts I've made, I was stuck in a rut using this pattern for too many quilts. I'm trying to branch out now and try new things, which has been so much fun!

  2. That's a great pattern. I never liked it until I saw it with blendy fabrics (which I normally can't stand!) and I fell in love with it and made one in a floral family with flannels! It's my favorite quilt now. I like the patriotic look of your fabrics. You're ready for the 4th of July!

  3. You are well ahead of the game Julie and welcome to the wonderful world of fabric. Talk to a few people around and see how many actually finishesd off their first quilt. Most people have them still sitting waiting to be quilted. A great first quilt.
