Good News - Bad News - GREAT News

Hi everyone!  I hope you don't mind, but I want to post about something personal today.  I'll try to make an incredibly long story as short as possible.  Let me get right into it . . .

Remember on March 15th I showed you this picture and told you to try to guess what my grandson's name was going to be???  He was due April 6th.

Well on March 16th, Ridge Todd Lindsay arrived!!!  :o)

Such a happy day for our family!!!  He is our third grandchild and we absolutely, completely love him!!!  Being a Grandma is the BEST!!!  It never ceases to amaze me how quickly you get attached to these new little members of the family!  I got to spend a week with my daughter and her family to help with things while she started her recovery.  It was so fun being with them!  These next two photos show Ridge's siblings, Cambria and Luke, are really happy he's here, too!!!  =D

So that's the "Good News" part of this post.  Here's the "Bad News."

On Tuesday, March 27, my daughter took Ridge to the doctor because he had an infection in his eyes.  While she was there he started having difficulty breathing and his heart rate and breaths started going crazy!!!  Immediately the doctor's office was filled with all sorts of doctors and nurses trying to help him.  Unfortunately, they weren't able to get things under control, so they decided he needed to be sent to Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, by a Life Flight helicopter.  The doctors told my daughter they felt something was wrong with his heart and he might need surgery.  That's when LOTS of prayers began from friends and family all over the world!  When the helicopter landed in Salt Lake, the Life Flight crew called my daughter and said they still weren't able to get Ridge's heart rate and respirations slowed down and he was still having such a difficult time breathing.  He was one sick little boy.  :o(

Well here is the "GREAT News" of this story!  When the Life Flight crew took Ridge to the NICU to be looked at, his heart rate and respirations had slowed back down to normal and he was breathing fine!!!  By the time we all got to the hospital he was sleeping comfortably and looked so peaceful!  It was all so unbelievable!  Even the doctors couldn't believe how quickly Ridge had come around with simply some IV fluids and oxygen from the original hospital and on Life Flight!  After lots of tests everything showed that Ridge and his heart are 100% perfect (I could have told them that!) and he probably just has a virus.  I knew at that moment that we had just witnessed a miracle!

When Ridge was born, the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck three times and he also had a "true" knot in the cord.  The doctor told my daughter and her husband that they should name him "Baby Lucky" because he was lucky to be alive.  I wonder what that doctor would name him after this experience???  This Grandma says it should be "Baby Blessed."  I am so thankful for the Lord's hand in our lives these past couple of weeks!

Hugs!!!

  1. Glad to hear everything's ok now - As the wife of a person with life-long heart issues, I have to encourage you to stay on top of that little dude's health - Things can come and go pretty quickly when they're that little.... Hope there's no more issues! Love his little quilt, by the way! And his name rocks! Thanks for sharing!
